However due to their high energy density, in ‘worse case scenarios’ this energy can rapidly exit the battery unit in the form of fire or explosions. Even in high-end consumer products such as phones & vehicles where the battery is encased and protected from the worst knocks, failures can still occur. In hobbyist industries such as Airsoft, these power cells are less bespoke, and can experience a bit more ‘rough & tumble’, especially if you’re prone to a few trips & falls on the Airsoft Field. These little knocks can damage the Lithium Cells, leading to a potential failure in the future. Any mistakes made during the charging process such as incorrectly fitting the Lithium Balance Lead can also cause failures to occur. It is therefore recommended that all storage & charging of Lithium based batteries occur within a Fire-Retardant, Explosive Resistant Charging Bag.
